Why we use Guardian Homes?
I have been a professional pet breeder for over 28 years. Simply put, I love what I do! As a professional breeder, we have continuously strived to better the breed, creating beautiful dogs with superb health and an exceptional personality.
However, after many years of wonderful memories caring for, loving, and raising our dogs alongside our 6 children, we have decided in the future to transition into the use of guardian homes for our dogs. We feel this is in the best interest of our dogs as our children have grown up and moved on to have their own families leaving less of us, and less time to spend individual time with our beautiful dogs.
We also understand that in order to breed the highest quality dogs possible, we need to continuously evaluate and add quality blood-lines to our breeding program. So, how is this possible? For us and many breeders like us, the answer is a Guardian Home Program.
What is a Guardian Home?
Being raised in a guardian home has many advantages for our dogs as they will be placed in their forever home as a young puppy, instead of having to transition into a new home mid-life. They will be with families that have plenty of time to play fetch, go for rides, travel, take puppy training classes etc… Our Guardian Home Program allows us and other dog breeders like us to expand our dog breeding program the right way…. by keeping our breeding dogs out of kennels and in Guardian Homes where they live as Cherished Family Members. We simply can’t keep all of the wonderful dogs that we would like to in our home and we want our breeding dogs to have a normal family life, not be kept in a kennel for breeding only.
Each Guardian family will be screened to make sure each of our dogs is in a wonderful home, so there are some requirements to be met. But being a Guardian to one of our dogs also has many benefits.
Guardian Home Requirements
- Feed an approved Dog Food
- Keep yearly Immunizations current
- Take at least one Basic obedience Class
- Live within 2 hours of our home in Woodville, WI
- Have dog available for health testing
- Dog is required to be at our home for 6-8 weeks per litter. Many families choose to take their vacation or travel during this time instead of paying for outside boarding.
Benefits of Being a Guardian Home
- You will receive a free puppy to love, snuggle and train. (picked by the breeder)
- You will receive $500 for each litter whelped
- Health testing will be paid for by the breeder
- Once the dog has had the required number of litters, the spay/neuter will be paid for by the breeder and the dog will be fully transferred to you and is now yours to keep.
